Dale Thayer Competing Against Time

RaysDigest recently posted a roundout of Tampa Bay Rays players and their Winter League performances. They said of former Wizards pitcher, Dale Thayer:
Dale Thayer, an outside candidate for a relief role in Tampa Bay, played for the Naranjeros de Hermosillo of the Mexican Pacific League. Thayer has eight saves in 17 appearances in Mexico, but has walked seven and posted a 6.23 ERA. The 28-year-old is too old to be considered a prospect, but after producing a 2.77 ERA and striking out 76 batters in 68 1/3 innings at Triple-A Durham, he impressed the Rays enough to give him a spot on the 40-man roster.
