Wizards Watch 3/2/08: Peavey, Headley & Hunter (Oh My!)
By Chad Gramling | March 2, 2008
Here’s a couple items of note regarding former Wizards. Both Headley and Hunter have been hot news items as of late. But don’t miss the one on Peavey:
- Peavy eyeing a change for the better [MLB.com]: To Say that Jake Peavey pitched “pretty good” last season is an understatement. He did win the National League Cy Young Award after all. But Peavey isn’t resting on past achievements. He’s looking and changing his repertoire (and bringing back his changeup) to extend his career and help his team by getting quicker outs and thus allowing him to pitch deeper into games.
- Plot deepens for Padres’ Headley [MiLB.com]: The third baseman turned outfielder wowed the crowd with a 440 foot shot in yesterdays 11-10 win over the Mariners. He’s making his case to win a job with the parent club.
- Happy accidents for Hunter [MLB.com]: The former Twins outfielder is making a good impression on his new Angels teammates. Yesterday, he launched his first round-tripper in an Angels uniform. It came off Cubs pitcher, Kerry Wood. He later crushed a double off Jason Marquis to bring his spring to 4 for 4 with 5 runs batted in. He called them all “accidents”.
