A Bob Parker Original

Cy Young by Bob ParkerWhen I began researching for Baseball in Fort Wayne, one name that popped up early and often was that of Bob Parker. To say that he was instrumental in fostering the National Pastime in and around Fort Wayne would be a gross understatement.

This man was a ball payer, a writer, a historian and more. What I found unique about Mr. Parker, though, was his art. Bob Parker was also a commercial artist who produced unbelievable images of the game. He saw them used as posters and even produced into sets of baseball cards.

To find Bob Parker’s originals is quite rare. If you find one for under $100, it’s even more rare. Today, I was able to secure my first Bob Parker original. The 1979 art piece depicts Cy Young and offers many factoids about the legendary pitcher.

Going to have this one matted and framed tomorrow if I have time. Read more about Parker and his work in Baseball In Fort Wayne on page 82.
