AJ Pierzynski Suspended
By Chad Gramling | June 9, 2007
Former Fort Wayne Wizards, AJ Pierzynski received a one-game suspension and was also fined an undisclosed amount by Major League Baseball for inappropriate actions in the eighth inning of Thursday’s game against the New York Yankees. Pierzynski swunk and struck out on a high fastball from Mariano Rivera to end the inning. It left the tying run on base.
He slammed his bat on home plate and shared some choice words with the umpire before being ejected . . . which prompted him to throw his helmet in the umpire’s direction.
